Dear So and So - diversions, children, social networking, yogurt, blog readers - and Asda again!

Dear So and So...

Not done this for a few weeks, but thought I'd do it now that Kat's back at 3 Bedroom Bungalow after her trip home. So, let's get down to some serious catharsis...

Dear urban planners,

Just who had the idea to shut the shortest of stretches of road with little warning, requiring the biggest diversions? First, I have to detour taking Monkey to his football on Monday (and now divert every day) then I go to take him to swimming on Wednesday and found another, requiring a 3 mile diversion. I know you want nice smooth roads - and God knows, so do I - but seriously? Are you out to annoy me or sommat?

Yours frustratedly,

Kate

Dear Asda,

Yes, it's me again. I've only been to the store for top up shops recently. You want to know why? Yep, that's right - no cafe! Please, please, please - how much do I have to beg before you put one back in? There must be plenty of mums with babies that don't go there because feeding is not easy. Or hungry kids. Or just hungry. Or thirsty.

Please sort it out. Pretty please?

Yours even more thirstily,

Kate

Dear children,

When we say "Stay in bed in the morning", that's what we mean. We don't mean "Get up to go to the toilet and then go wake up your sibling, even at 4am". There is a reason you're tired and it ain't anything to do with me.

Love,

Mummy

Dear Facebook,

Stop messing around with things, and pretending they're "enhancements". And no, I don't want to show all my photos and personal information to the whole frickin' world. Oh, and you're not Twitter, ya hear?

Sort it out,

Kate

Dear Twitter,

I love you just the way you are. Please don't try and turn into Facebook. You aren't and you never will be.  You do it so much better than them. New "features" should be added advisedly and only if it REALLY enhances your users' experiences of it. And I can't wait for your new data centre,

Yours hoping I don't see the fail whale again,

Kate

Dear Onken,

Coconut Yogurt. OMG! I love it. And you. But I hate you - I want to eat all of it in one go and I'm trying to lose weight. Can you not do smaller tubs?

Yours lasciviously,

Me

And finally......

Dear blog readers,

Thank you. I was really worried about publishing this post with pictures and all on my blog. But I did and you made such lovely comments, both on here and on Twitter, that I'm so glad I did.

I love you all,

Kate x

  1. Facebook wants to be like Twitter. Twitter wants to be like facebook. Can't they realise that they are both different and good in their own way. Grrr.

  5. I totally agree about Facebook! Their "enhancements" that take away any privacy really annoy me. Any more I just assume anything I put up is public. Because it can be. Annoying.

    Great letters!

  6. Well, exactly, PP. Grr indeed. They are different but seem to want to be the same. I hope Twitter doesn't become too much like Facebook as it's such fun - slightly anarchic and not quite as restrictive as FB. It opens up a world of possibilities.

  7. Ah, you should have a go one week, Nic. Kat normally posts on a Friday and you can go to her post and link yours up.

  8. Nah, Jen - it's just the stuff like Twitter suggesting who you follow etc that feels like twitter making itself more accessible to the Facebook community. At least Twitter doesn't suddenly change like FB does. But I do like the "You both follow" feature on people's feed pages - if I get a new follower, I can look quickly and get a better idea if they are bona fide.

  9. Y'see? That doesn't float my boat. But hey, if it makes you happy, then go for it. Would be boring if we all liked the same stuff. I wouldn't get my coconut yogurt cos everyone would want it and it would cost too much!

    Thanks for the comment!

  10. Thanks Eileen and thanks for your visit. I really hate that about Facebook - it's like they want to find ways all the time to make it all accessible without people's permission. Makes me so mad. I think it's the fact it's associated with my real name and my details that bothers me so much.

  11. Ditch the Facebook, lovey. I hardly use it nowadays. :-D

  12. Ha, ha, thanks Garry, great idea. I don't use it all that much, but for me, it serves its purpose. It helps me to stay in touch with quite a lot of people that I know in real life (shock horror, I do know other people....!) , family flung in various parts of the UK and world, and a few online friends who go to other places now. I also use it to upload pix of the children for family to catch up with and find at their leisure. You can't do that with twitter. They each have their place, FB and Twitter so I'm not about to ditch it completely, even if I use it far less frequently than I used to these days.

  13. You made me laugh with yoru note to yoru kids. I coudl have written that myself! Why do they insist on waking each other? arrgghh Mich x

  14. Oooh, nearly missed this, Mich! Every evening, we ask them to tell us what they should do in the morning and they can recite to me what they are going to do. And then in the morning, they can't resist sneaking into each other's rooms. Drives me mad but I guess it does display their closeness.
