Meal Planning Monday - the boring mid-January edition!

Meal Planning MondayJanuary. Doesn't it go on forever? I mean, I know I have a birthday in January, but after that, there are still 25 days to go until February. It feels like 125. Don't ask me why but it does. I'm not on an alcohol ban, food ban or other strange regime (apart from doing more classes because there are lots of new ones I want to try) but I'll be frank, it's dragging. How can there be 2 more full working weeks in the month?

Moan over. I've tried to find some new things to brighten our January. I'm doing well so far this month because the chilli with cornbread topping I made last week was fabulous and will become a regular in the house. Here's hoping for this week's set of meals.

Talking of which....

Monday - Sausage and onion rosti
Tuesday - Roast squash and sweet potato soup
Wednesday - Fish finger butties
Thursday - Tasty turkey hotpot
Friday - Sizzling salmon with bean mash
Saturday - Pizza (from the freezer)
Sunday - Roast chicken

What's on your menu? Tell me then wander over to Mrs M's blog - badge above.

Meal Planning Monday - a winter holiday edition!

Meal Planning Monday Yes, I'm on leave this week as I have a lot of leave to use before the end of the year. Of course, I am supposed to be having a quiet week but no. We're going out on Monday night (that's just the grown ups). Tuesday morning, I'm on a course. Wednesday afternoon, I'm spending in school. And Thursday, I'm planning a Christmas shop to Ikea and Costco. Am I bonkers?

(Don't answer that.)

Anyway......

I think we're having a fairly standard week if you ignore the fact that the grown ups are going out for dinner on Monday night. Monkey has been nagging at me for weeks to make sushi so I have promised we will do this on Tuesday as the children come home later and I will have time to prepare everything. Oh yes, Monkey is having a friend come home for tea on Friday which is currently the only day we can do that in the week. Really.

Monday - Fishfingers, beans and chips for the children
Tuesday - Sushi a la Monkey
Wednesday - Boerenkool Stamppot
Thursday - Butties
Friday - Chickeny stuff for the children, Cheesy broccoli orzo for the grown ups
Saturday - Sweet and sticky wings
Sunday - Roast pork etc

And while you're at it, pop on over to Mrs M's for the rest of MPM entries. Click on the badge etc etc. See you next week.

Meal Planning Monday (Tuesday?) - the extremely late summer edition!

Meal Planning MondayYes, OK, I'm late. A whole day, in fact. I have an excuse - we were down south until Monday morning, and having called in to see some of my family on our way home, we didn't get home until Monday evening. I wasn't organised enough to have a plan ahead of time, let alone do a post, so I had to scribble one down with Missy Woo offering me suggestions from a summer book the children managed to acquire this weekend.

This week is a big one for husband - he's competing in the Ironman at Bolton on Sunday so he's off this week preparing for it. Hence the pasta on Saturday night. Apart from that, it's a normal summer holiday week. Oh yes, not quite - the children are running 1.2km for Ironkids on Saturday morning.

Here's the week (obviously, starting on Tuesday - we ate at services on the way home) in meals.

Tuesday- BBQ chicken and sweet potato
Wednesday - Sausage and roast veg couscous
Thursday - Leek and bacon frittata
Friday -  Asian chicken, mandarin and cashew salad
Saturday - Veggie macaroni cheese
Sunday - Homemade fish fingers

Meal Planning Monday - the May half term edition!

Meal Planning Monday
So, yes, half term is upon us all too quickly. This was hastily put together with the help of the children. Well, we rapidly chose some things to eat, then I've organised them into set days to fit into our week. Not that we are up to much - we're not going away anywhere, we can't take Monkey swimming (he's in a cast until 5th June), and all we are doing is chilling out, and having friends over one day. That's all that's planned, apart from the odd party the children have to go to - this time of year is busy for friend's birthdays for both children.

This is what we have planned.

Monday - Prawn risotto
Tuesday - Corned beef pie
Wednesday - Mushroom stroganoff
Thursday - Lasagne, salad and garlic bread
Friday - Fish fingers
Saturday - Roast chicken
Sunday - Quesadillas (with leftover chicken possibly)

More meal planning loveliness is at Mrs M's which you can find by clicking the badge above. Have a good week.
